Cordless underwater robots vs solar surface skimmers
Cordless underwater robots (the AIPER Scuba family, UBoter S10, Gosvor LiteVac G1, Spino E1, Pooleco S110, ROBOKLEEN, Pooloob in our roster) drive themselves around the pool floor and — where the manufacturer publishes wall or waterline coverage — climb. They carry their own filter, run on a charge cycle, and are retrieved by hand or trolley. Solar surface skimmers (AIPER EcoSurfer S2, Exquimac, nichro) instead patrol the water surface, using a solar-assisted drive to catch floating debris before it sinks. They are a complement to a floor robot, not a replacement: different debris layer, different job.
Above-ground compatibility is a real constraint
Not every cordless robot is rated for above-ground pools, and wall-climbing claims usually assume a rigid wall. In our roster, the campaign record for the AIPER Scuba SE explicitly lists above-ground use, and Gosvor publishes the LiteVac G1 for both in-ground and above-ground pools. Where a manufacturer does not publish a pool-type rating, we record that gap instead of guessing — check the spec sheet on each product page.
Filter maintenance
Every cordless robot in this category uses an onboard filter basket or cartridge. Manufacturer-published maintenance guidance varies; the honest baseline is: empty and rinse the filter after each cycle, inspect for debris in the drive tracks or impeller area per the manual, and store the unit shaded and dry. We do not reproduce unverified maintenance intervals — follow the manual shipped with your unit.
